Robert "Bob" Johnson died on June 20, 2022, after a long illness. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on March 22, 1944, to Robert E. Sr. and Alice (nee Rooney) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. His Army service allowed him to attend Pace University and Brooklyn College, receiving degrees in Psychology. He began his career as a psychologist at the American Institute for Mental Studies in Vineland, New Jersey, moved to Minnesota in 1978 to take a position at Brainerd State Hospital, and later moved into private practice in St. Cloud and the Twin Cities.He was a licensed psychologist with a lengthy career serving individuals with developmental disabilities, and when he retired was granted Emeritus Psychologist status by the Minnesota Board of Psychology. Throughout his career, he was a kind and caring advocate for those with whom he worked, always giving his best. Until his illness, he was an active volunteer in many organizations including his parish church.He loved his family and will be missed deeply.He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol (nee Parton) Johnson; daughters, Elizabeth (Randy Weber) and Alison (Colin Schaub); grandchildren, Bienne, Danny, Kieran, and Noah; siblings, Timothy (Susan) and Patricia (Gary); in-laws, Irma Johnson, John (Kazumi) Parton, Steven (Melody) Parton, and Andrew (JoAnne) Parton, and their families. Preceded in death by siblings, Michael and Kathleen. A special thank you to the staff of the Lyngblomsten Care Center and Health Partners Hospice & Palliative Care for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Association are preferred. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Thursday, July 7 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2131 Fairview Avenue N., Roseville. Visitation at the church from 10-11 AM Thursday. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
