Roger Andrew Ettel

May 26, 1931 — August 11, 2024

Roger Andrew Ettel, age 93, of Roseville, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2024.

He was born on May 26, 1931 to Andrew and Grace (Johnson) Ettel in the city of St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his first wife, Lenore, who passed away in 1984, his second wife, Betty Link, and his beloved daughter, Margie Petersen.

Survived by his children, Roger G. (Diana), Susan LaTona, Diane Aufderhar (Jim) and son-in-law, Bill Petersen, and stepchildren, Karl (Caroline) and Christine (Terry) Braker. Also survived by grandchildren, Mark, Andrew, Daniel, Mariano, Jeana, Franco, Mary, Betsy, Ann, Dane, Nicole and Eric, and step-grandchildren, Terralea and Tyrell, five great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

Roger grew up in the Como Park area and attended Murray High School. To achieve his dream of becoming a chiropractor, he attended Palmer College in Iowa. While competing his chiropractic degree, he married his high school sweetheart Lenore. He practiced in St. Paul, and then in Roseville, up to age 86. He was an excellent chiropractor and a lover of music, trains and books. A lifelong Lutheran, he had a deep faith which he passed on to his children. His grandchildren knew that, without fail, Grandpa prayed for them every day, and they fondly remember him reading the Christmas story every year sporting a Santa hat. As one grandchild remarked, “When Grandpa gave us an adjustment, it would last a week or two, but along with it he dispensed advice that would last a lifetime.” He endeared himself to everyone because of his kind heart and easy laugh, and will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Union Gospel Mission.
