Roger W. Charlton

Roger Walter Charlton, 69, of Lino Lakes, MN, formerly of Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2018.​Born on June 7, 1948, in Fairmont, MN to Roger Wells and Virginia (Rettke) Charlton. Graduate of Fairmont High School (1967), and the University of Minnesota (1971) earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He taught in the Minneapolis & St. Paul Schools for two years before joining his father’s jewelry business, which began a 40- year career as a jewelry designer and goldsmith retiring in 2013 from Security Jewelers, Duluth, MN.Married in 1974 to Carla Meyer, he was the proud father of three daughters who he taught to fish at the family cabin, pound a nail, and appreciate nature.  He was a skilled craftsman, as reflected by the beautiful homes he built or remodeled. They enjoyed many adventures to the Carolinas and Florida, and frequent trips to Bayfield, the North Shore and down the Mississippi River – wherever the sun was shining.​Survived by wife Carla, daughters Jodi of St. Paul, MN, Alyssa (David Meyers) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Lindsey of Colorado Springs, CO, grandson Michael Meyers, mother Virginia Charlton, sister Susan Wiley (Charles Wiley) and sister-in-law Sheila Charlton, nieces and nephews.Preceded in death by father Roger Wells Charlton and brother Frederick Charlton.​A Celebration of his Life will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 11 am followed by continued celebration until 1 pm at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home, 7050 Lake Drive (Cty Hwy 23), Lino Lakes, MN.
