Rosalie M. Pinomaki

February 22, 1939 — January 21, 2021

Roseville

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 21, 2021.  Survived by loving husband of 57 years Richard; daughters, Julie (Dan Pfarr) Pinomaki and Kris (Neil) Kulevsky; grandchildren, Leo, Lily, James, Greta, and Anton; sisters Lila (Ed) Linner and Gloria Johnson; and many other relatives and friends.  Rose was born in Blakeley, Minnesota and moved to St. Paul as a young girl. She attended Como Elementary School and Murray High School.  After high school she attended the University of Minnesota for 2 years then began working full-time in the Children’s Room of the St. Paul Public Library where she worked until retirement in 1994. Rose and Dick met on New Year’s Eve in 1960 and were married on June 29th, 1963.  They raised their daughters on Victoria Street in St. Paul, one block away from St. Timothy Lutheran Church, where they were active members. They lived in this home until 1990 when they bought a townhome in Little Canada and a cabin on Horseshoe Lake.  In 2014, they sold the cabin and downsized into a comfortable apartment at Greenhouse Village Cooperative in Roseville. Rose volunteered throughout her life.  In addition to church she served the Y, the United Way, Capitol Community Services, school PTA, Camp Fire Girls, Minnesota History Center, Loaves and Fishes, Meals on Wheels, and others. Rose enjoyed gardening, cross-country skiing, skating, dancing, reading, thrift stores, garage sales, biking, oceans and lakes, all kinds of boxes (wooden, tin or cardboard), rocks of all sizes and a good glass of wine.  Friends were important to her and she enjoyed humor, a trait she found attractive in Dick.  She was very proud of her daughters and considered her grandchildren to be a wonderful blessing.  Being with her sisters was one of her greatest joys. A Celebration of Life will take place at 1:00 PM Saturday June 26th, 2021 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1465 N. Victoria Street, St. Paul. There will be a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 180 Degrees, The Nature Conservancy, or a charity of your choice.
