Rose was born July 7th, 1932, in Dickinson, North Dakota as Rose Marie Diebel. She was the 3rd oldest of the 12 children born to Anton and Otillia Diebel. Along with those 11 siblings, she was raised with 4 adopted cousins.
She met and married the love of her life, Alfred Kaufman, on July 9th, 1953 in Dickinson. At that time she was a telephone operator, and they then moved to Georgia as Al was in the Army. He served in the Korean War, and they lived in Washington state after the war before moving back to North Dakota after he was discharged, where they started their family. They then moved to St. Paul, Minnesota in 1954 and settled in Roseville, Minnesota. She lived in that house for the next 66 years as they raised their 9 children. She leaves a legacy of 29 grandchildren and currently 34 great grandchildren.
She was a mother to all, including several of her siblings over the years, as well as many grandchildren. It was the neighborhood house for many, and they all felt at home.
One of their favorite things was traveling with family in their Airstream motorhome.
Another huge part of their lives was watching their children and grandchildren in their activities and sports, especially hockey.
Other hobbies were gardening and snowmobiling with Al and their friends. One talent we all enjoyed was that she was a great cook and loved to have the whole family over on Sundays for a barbeque or especially soup - either beef noodle or chicken rice, recipes handed down from her mom, that she has now handed down to her children.
She was a spiritual woman and always put her family first. She loved having everyone celebrate the holidays together.
She will be greatly missed by all who have had their lives touched by her but especially the 69 children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband, Al; and children, Tim, Cindy and Dave.
Survived by children, Chuck (Sue), Patty (Pat) Ryan, Jerry (Judy), Alan (Susan), Steve (Ali), and Bob (Stephanie); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
