Rose Mary Sperl (née Keran)

Age 92, of Oak Park Heights, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Thomas J. Sperl, her parents, Hildegard and Francis Keran, brother, Richard Keran, and sister, Kathleen Schirmer. 

Survived by children, Colleen (Jeff) Cheever, Michael (Kathy) Sperl; grandchildren, Sara Cheever (Lucas Kunach), Tom Cheever (Jackie Ward), Kaitlin (Brian) Royal, Nick (Tory) Sperl; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Josh, Leo, Hannah; brothers and sisters-in-law, & friends. 

Rose Mary grew up in the Como area, attending St. Agnes Catholic School where she met her husband of 72 years, Thomas Sperl. They were devout members of the Catholic faith throughout their lives. Rose Mary embraced her role as mother and homemaker. She excelled at both and had a particular love of baking. Her chocolate chip cookies were legendary. Friends of Mike crowded around him at college whenever a package came from his mom. Rose Mary sent cookies to her grandkids who lived away and often shared them with co-workers at Twin City Floral Supply. Rose Mary had a talent for needlepoint and knitting. While growing up, the grandchildren had a “special day” with Nannie. She lavished them with love and attention (and prizes). Rose Mary maintained her high school friendships "Club" for 72 years, meeting for dinners, parties, and celebrations. Many of these events were held at the Sperl’s home at Meadowlark Lane on Kohlman Lake. She was a bright light in all our lives, and we will miss her. 

Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 pm Thursday, November 14 at the Church of St. Peter, 2600 N. Margaret St., North St. Paul. Visitation at the church from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Thursday.

Private interment St. John's Cemetery, Little Canada.
