Shirley F. Meek

September 26, 1938 — November 30, 2024

Shirley F. Meek, age 86, of Circle Pines, passed away November 30th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. 

Shirley was born and raised in Warroad, Minnesota. She grew up with her parents Arthur and Gertrude and her six siblings. She married Robert Meek and they started their family; Peggy, Bobby, and Keith. In 1963 the Meek family moved to Circle Pines in search of better employment opportunities. Shirley stayed home and raised the three kids and then began working at American Guidance Service (AGS) in Circle Pines in the Customer Service Department shortly before welcoming her youngest child, Mary into the family. After dedicating over 23 years at AGS, she transitioned to a new role at Deluxe Corporation in Shoreview where she worked for over 18 years until she finally retired at the age of 75.

Shirley moved from her home in Circle Pines to Atlas Villas Memory Care in Centerville in March of 2023, She left all that she knew and started a new chapter at Atlas. She filled the halls with her sweet smile, hugs, and lots of whistling and dancing. She had many friends there and was loved by the staff. 

Faith and church was always a big part of Shirley's life. She was involved in numerous church committees and always ready to help others, she was a devoted servant to her church. One of Shirley's favorite services was the late night church service on Christmas Eve. 

Shirley had many friends, whether it was getting together with the card club ladies, co-workers, church friends, or neighbors she was always kind and welcoming.

Shirley took pride in her home and her yard. She enjoyed being outdoors mowing the grass, raking, sweeping, shoveling, etc., it was her happy place. She liked watching hockey and most sports in general and she loved listening to her Alan Jackson CD's and piano music.

Shirley was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and a cherished friend to many. Her greatest accomplishment and joy in her life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by children, Peggy Meek, Robert Meek Jr., Keith (Diane) Meek, Mary Meek (Mike); grandchildren, Leigh, Joshua, Rheanna, Ryan; great grandchildren, Collin, Mason, Maddox, Bella; siblings, Wayne Fish and Rose Marie Hams; and many other family and friends. 

She is preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Gertrude; siblings, Edel Fromm, Helen Palmquist, Fred Fish, and Betty Jean Zaiser.

Shirley's smile, laugh,and hugs will be missed more than anything. Her caring heart and joyful presence cannot be replaced. She will be dearly missed by all that loved her. 

Memorial service 11 AM Saturday, December 14 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 9185 Lexington Ave., Circle Pines. Visitation at the church from 10-11 AM Saturday.

In lieu of flowers or monetary donations, the family kindly requests contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Shirley Meek's memory.
