Stephen F. Marincel

Steve Marincel passed away from illness on November 19, 2024 after a life where many caring people sustained him and gave his life meaning.

Steve’s life began with loving parents, grandparents and siblings. He was blessed with an extended family of aunts, uncles and over 30 cousins who developed an ongoing community.

Steve was very proud of his Naz Hall days and was very grateful for his long-time friends from those years, as well as college friends who have stayed close. He was glad he got to attend graduate school in Eugene at a wonderful school in Oregon, a state filled with wonders.

Much of Steve’s working life was with AFSCME where he was lucky to have union brothers and sisters to join to fight for justice for workers and the greater community. Steve worked hard to develop his business agent skills and help pass his knowledge on to others.

Steve was a proud and supportive father to Sam, a 4th generation union member.

Steve gave and received support in 12-step and other support groups, and has always been very grateful for the positive perspective and invaluable friendships that were gained.

After retirement Steve was able to seriously follow his musical passions. He was a loyal jazz fan who attended many local performances for about a decade. He also took some singing lessons and joined the talented Unity choir which he enjoyed for a number of years. 

Steve is survived by his wife, Gaye Sorenson; son, Sam; siblings, Tom (Kathy), Cathy (Jerry), Paul (Anne); nieces and nephews: Nick, Pete, Shaina, Lyda, Lucia, Elizabeth, Caitlin, Elisha; and abundant loving great nieces and nephews. 

Visitation and a remembrance/celebration will be held at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home - Roseville on Monday, December 9th beginning at 11:00 AM with the formal gathering at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Faith in Minnesota or Second Harvest Heartland appreciated.
