Suki M. Schrankler

Suki Schrankler passed away peacefully at home on August 19th, 2021 at the age of 68 after a long battle with breast cancer. Although Suki was only 4’10”, she was a spitfire of a women and beat defying odds with her cancer diagnosis. When we thought we would have limited days, she fought victoriously and we are grateful for the extra two and half years we were given to spend time with her. She was born in Kyung Book, South Korea to the late Young Moon Son & Tae Soon Kwon Son. She was the oldest of 7 children, proceeded in death by her brother Min Soo Son. Survived by her brothers, Jung Soo Son and Han Soo Son; and sisters, Soon Ja Son, Soon Ok Son and Soon Mae Son. Suki is survived by her husband Leslie whom she married on October 6th, 1973 and was at her side lovingly fulfilling his obligation till death do us part. Their love story began when Les was stationed in South Korea. Neither could speak each other’s language but it was true love at first sight. Suki eventually moved from her home country of South Korea to establish a new life in Minnesota to which she called home for nearly 50 years. Suki is also survived by her children, Jason (Stephanie) and Angela (Josh). Above all her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Josslen, Jayden, Raegan, Brody, Ashlee and Gweneth. She was very involved in their upbringing and wanted them to have a strong connection to her Korean heritage. Although they don’t possess many Korean physical characteristics, they will forever have a Korean culture connection being immersed in the food, stories and travel to Korea afforded to them by their grandmother. The family will be having a private interment service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 24th, 2021 where she will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred that each and every person touched by the life of Suki complete their recommended cancer screenings.
