Age 87, of Roseville, passed away on September 19, 2021, surrounded by her daughters and beloved dog.Preceded in death by parents, Clarence & Anna Jacobson.Survived by daughters, Sonia (Joe) Boelke and Beth Jacobson; grandchildren, Nora, Chip & Vince; and beloved dog, Sir Ollivander Aristotle.Vicky was born and raised in Kenyon MN with her parents, Clarence and Anna. She spent much of her time with her cousins who also lived in town. After the one room country school that she attended closed, she went to Kenyon’s big school. Vicky paid her way through Macalester College working as a dental assistant for the dentist in town. He became a huge support and friend in her life even after her time working there was over. After completing her undergraduate degree, she went on to finish her Ph.D at the University of Minnesota. Vicky's love for education did not stop there. She wanted to share her passion for lifelong learning with others and became locally (as well as internationally) known as an author and leader in curriculum instruction and reading development. Vicky served as the reading coordinator for the Roseville public schools as well as the president of the International Reading Association.
After she retired from Roseville, she asked God what she should do, and His answer was clear. Adopt kids. In 1984 she welcomed a tiny baby from India, Sonia. Two years later she adopted a sister for her, Elizabeth. After her daughters were old enough for school, she decided to open her own school, Accel Academy. Vicky (or as most called her, Dr. J) looked past labels and disabilities and made sure everyone had an individual educational environment that met their learning style to help them succeed. Her passion truly was serving students and families. In her free time, you could always find Vicky gardening and drinking coffee. She made a difference in the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
