Victor N. Brenk

Aged 95, Victor passed away in Brooklyn Park on September 17, 2019.​Victor is remembered by Lorraine, his wife of 68 wonderful years, their seven children: Kathy (Scott Morse) Koch, Tom (Pat), Barb (Dean) Goldberg, Jan, Jeff (Maureen), Mike (Mary Alice), Gary (Denise Pearson), and their many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-granddaughter, his nieces and nephews, and his sister Marianne (Dwayne) Dombeck. ​He is preceded in death by: parents Frank and Emily; stepfather Rudy Hartmann, sisters Beatrice DeChaine, and Anita Paidosh.​Born in St. Michael, MN, Victor graduated from Buffalo High School where he was awarded the Industrial Arts Scholarship.  Having graduated NYA School in Shakopee and attended Dunwoody, Victor was inducted into the Army in May 1943.  He served as a T-5 (Machinist) behind the front lines in General Patton’s Third Army, 851st Ordnance, HAM Company.  His service took him to England, France, Luxembourg, Germany, and Austria.​After WWII, Victor worked for World Tool & Engineering and American Machine Co.  In 1963 Victor and Tom Love founded Basic Industries, a precision machine shop.  Their manufacturing work included parts for NASA’s 3M designed solar generators that facilitated the 1969 Apollo 11 Moon Landing with Neil Armstrong.  As Basic Industries grew to employ 180 persons, it would create parts for 3M, Honeywell, Univac, Bemis, and Control Data.   In 1981, Basic Industries was sold to International Silver Co.  Retaining his position as president, Victor doubled Basic Industries’ sales within 5 years and retired from his lifelong profession in 1986. ​Victor’s retirement at Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, FL. featured winters of boating, golfing, fishing, and dancing with the love of his life, Lorraine.  He loved his children, and was proud of their many accomplishments.  He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the time he spent with them (individually or in a group) was always special. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 24 at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH, 835 - 2nd Ave NW, New Brighton. Interment at Morningside Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 4-8 PM Monday (with Prayer Service at 6:30 PM) at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME-ROSEVILLE, 2130 N. Dale Street at County Road B, and from 9:30-10:30 AM Tuesday at the church.  In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Totino-Grace High School Industrial Arts Program or donor’s choice.
